2 dead in Austin fire

Two people are dead after a fire in Austin early Saturday morning, according to Chicago police.

Chicago firefighters responded to a blaze in the 500 block of North Leamington Avenue at 12:39 a.m. and found a man, 65, dead, police said. An 88-year-old woman was taken to West Suburban Hospital, where she later died.

Another man, 62, was able to exit the building unharmed, police said.

The fire is under investigation.
