City of Bend to vandal: Stop putting googly eyes on statues

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — The City of Bend is asking for a vandal who has been putting googly eyes on statues in roundabouts to stop.

The vandalism has happened to eight statues so far and the city is concerned it may damage them.

"While the googly eyes placed on the various art pieces around town might give you a chuckle, it costs money to remove them with care to not damage the art," the City of Bend said in an Instagram post.

According to the city, the adhesive used to stick the googly eyes onto the statue's surface is what can cause the damage.

Officials said removing the googly eyes has so far cost the city over $1,500.
