YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY) -- Candidates Jean Paul "JP" Broussard and Cody Louviere will be facing off in a runoff election tomorrow for the position of Youngsville Chief of Police.

This runoff comes after the primary election in November ended where Broussard collected 46% of the vote and Chief Louviere took 40% of the vote. Matt Thomassee finished last with 14% of the vote.

Broussard his final approach has been getting out in the community and speaking with residents.

"I've been meeting a lot of great people, citizens of Youngsville, getting out there and knocking on doors, hearing their concerns, their problems, getting solutions to help with those problems also," Broussard said.

Broussard said if elected, he wants to ensure more officers will be patrolling.

"First thing, come in there and evaluate the department, make changes that need to be made, come in there with a clean slate, no ties to the department, one goal is to get more officers on the road, they do not have enough officers on the road per shift," Broussard said.

Louviere, the current police chief, said since he's been in office, he's helped the department with keeping crime down in Youngsville. He said he's enjoyed being able to connect with residents in the city.

"Taking the last year in the department and just trying to move the department in the right direction, more transparency for our citizens, more integrity for the department, so being able to bring that to Youngsville and to our citizens has been a good thing for me," Louviere said.

Louviere said he is looking forward to hopefully being re-elected.

"I'm looking forward to showing up Monday morning and hitting the ground running just like we've done the past year," he said.
