Louisiana man allegedly found with 1,600 child sexual abuse videos, images
WEST MONROE, La. (KTVE/KARD) -- A West Monroe man has admitted to possessing over 1,600 pieces of child pornography, authorities said.
The Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office, FBI, Louisiana State Police and the Louisiana Office of the Attorney General executed a federal search warrant Monday at a residence on New Chapel Hill Road in West Monroe. The search warrant was obtained during an investigation into the distribution of child sexual assault material.
According to authorities, Shannon W. Cardin of West Monroe, was identified as the suspect during the investigation. Authorities contacted Cardin and searched his residence.
Cardin allegedly admitted to viewing, downloading and transmitting child sexual abuse content to devices at the residence. He also allegedly admitted to producing the content and uploading it to the internet.
Authorities seized multiple devices during the search, with one device containing approximately 1,600 images and videos of child sexual abuse. Cardin was arrested and charged with 100 counts of Pornography Involving Juveniles.
