Anora, I Saw The TV Glow, and Shōgun lead Independent Spirit Award nominations

0

Awards season is chugging right along. Next up are the Film Independent Spirit Awards, which honor the best and brightest in indie cinema and television. To qualify, a film's budget must not exceed $30 million, which means major blockbusters like Wicked and Gladiator II are, obviously, out of the running.

This year, Sean Baker's Anora and Jane Schoenbrun's I Saw The TV Glow lead the pack with six nods each. Emmy darling Shōgun unsurprisingly leads the TV nominations with five, followed by Baby Reindeer and English Teacher, which each received four nominations. In terms of overall tallies, A24 dominated again this year with 19 nominations, up from last year's 11 (per Deadline). Netflix came in a distant second with nine nods.

Aidy Bryant is set to host once again, which means we're in for a fun night under the tent on February 22, 2025. The in-person ceremony will stream live on IMDb and Film Independent's YouTube channel.
