HUDSON, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The City of Hudson suspended paid parking for December, the city announced. Additionally, alternate side parking will be reinstated on the weekends beginning Friday, Dec. 6.

Parking meter fees throughout Hudson, including municipal lots will be free until Dec. 31. The exception, however, is the free parking does not apply for the Front Street Amtrak lot.

The free parking, according to the city, will allow for residents and visitors to go downtown and shop local, small businesses. Alternate side parking rules in the city, however, will be reinstated on all streets starting Friday for people who park overnight.

Those rules will be enforced daily. Between midnight and 8 a.m., those who park on city streets overnight will have to park on the odd side of the street for odd-numbered calendar days, and the even side on even days, according to the city.

On Saturday, Dec. 7, Warren Street will be closed for traffic and parking for the Winter Walk. According to the police department, starting at 1 p.m. Warren Street to 3rd Street will be no parking, including the municipal lot in the 300 block.

Beginning at 3 p.m., the remainder of Warren Street to 8th Street will be no parking, as well as side streets: Park Place, 7th Street, from Cherry Alley to Columbia Street, Columbia Street, 6th Street from Cherry Alley to Warren Street, 5th Street from Prison Alley to Cherry Alley, 4th Street from Cherry Alley to Warren Streety and 3rd Street from Cherry Alley to Allen Street.

Starting at 4:15 p.m. all the above streets will be closed to traffic. Handicapped parking spots will be available on South 6th Street from Union to Cherry Alley and on North 5th Street from Columbia Street to Prison Alley.
