Tottenham‘s initial plan was for Yang to join the squad in January, but given the club’s injury woes, they have decided that the 18-year-old will arrive in Hotspur Way this month.

The teenager is coming off an exceptional debut season in the K-League, having scored 12 goals and provided six assists for Gangwon FC in 38 league games.

The winger will arrive at Tottenham full of confidence, having broken records and won major accolades back in Korea.

Yang Min-hyeok picks up prestigious accolades

It has been revealed on the K-League website that the Tottenham man has won the Young Player of the Year award, with the decision having been almost unanimous, with 11 votes from coaches, 10 from team captains, and 115 from the media.

He becomes only the second player in K League history to win Young Player of the Year during his debut season, following Kim Min-jae in 2017.

Further, the youngster was also nominated for the MVP award and has made it into the K-League Team of the Season.

What Yang has said about his impending Spurs move

The South Korean is extremely excited ahead of his Premier League adventure and admits that he is keen to get some minutes for Tottenham as soon as possible.

The pacy winger revealed that he wants to emulate his idol, Heung-min Son, having already spoken to the Tottenham captain about the challenges he will face in England.

Yang Min-hyeok said last week (via journalist Joel Kim): “I want to be like Son Heung-min at Tottenham. I especially want to emulate his shooting and finishing skills. I’m studying English as well.

“I’ve been taking regular English lessons, but since I still use Korean more than English, I have my limitations. However, I plan to build a foundation and learn by facing challenges. He also told me that playing in the EPL is by no means easy.

“Adjusting to a culture that’s different from Korea after moving to London, England is crucial. I want to adapt to Tottenham quickly and play in matches as soon as possible.”
