In her viral video, TikTok user Christy Hairel (@christyhairel) showed her followers around her cabin.

She revealed that she was allowed to room with her husband since he also worked on board.

The TikToker explained that she had her “fair share of roommates” on board before tying the knot.

She acknowledged her lucky living situation, describing it as a “very unique privilege.”

Beginning her virtual tour, Christy took her audience down the small hallway into the shared living space.

She explained that officers are given the extra space to carry out their work.

The area served as a combined office and living room, featuring her husband’s desk and computer as well as a sofa and TV.

Christy revealed that her husband sometimes has to host work meetings in their cabin.

“Sometimes I’ll come out of the bedroom and find lots of people in my living room having a meeting but I don’t mind because it just kind of comes with the territory,” she said.

“If I get banned from my cabin due to a sensitive meeting, my husband buys me a coffee.”

Next, the entertainer showed her followers around the bedroom she shares with her husband.

While the living area included a large porthole allowing for natural light, the bedroom was windowless.

However, it was spacious, with “lots of storage” and a large double bed.

The couple had a second TV at the base of their bed, allowing them both space to “wind down” at the end of the night.

Christy said that the bedroom had more storage than any other cabin she’d ever stayed in.

Pros and cons of going on a cruise ship

Whether you're considering a long holiday, working remotely or even living on board a cruise ship for a few months or years, here are the pros and cons from a former cruise shipper.

Pros

  • Travel the world, learn and experience new cultures
  • Meet new people
  • Don’t have to think or worry about room cleaning, or food

Cons

  • Internet connection can be painfully slow and expensive
  • Limited luggage allowance so have to wear the same clothes on rotation
  • Having no control of where the ship would go next and the possibility of visiting the same ports
  • Having the same onboard entertainment, on-demand movies, and little choice of TV channels
  • No fresh newspapers or new books unless someone adds them to the library
  • Relatively the same food week after week unless major menu changes occur seasonally.
  • Occasional rough seas, bad weather and viral outbreaks while inboard.

While she joked that the simple en suite bathroom was “nothing to write home about,” she described it as “cute.”

TikTok users shared their thoughts on the cabin in the comments section.

“My cabin, when I worked on a ship, was the size of your bathroom,” wrote one viewer.

“Such a cool cabin!!! Love how happy you are,” said another follower.

“I was youth staff on the ship, your cabin is absolutely amazing, my cabin was half the size and [I] had to share with three other people,” commented a third person.

“That’s nicer than my apartment!!” pointed out another TikTok user.
