New Juan Soto Report Will Give Red Sox Fans Sigh Of Relief

Red Sox fans are waiting with bated breath to see if Juan Soto will take his talents to Boston.

Soto reportedly has a level of interest in the Red Sox, but there seem to be at least four other teams in the mix for the superstar outfielder. However, as Ken Rosenthal broke down the significance of Soto’s free agency Monday, The Athletic MLB insider effectively ruled out one marquee player in the sweepstakes.

“Once Juan Soto signs, then Teoscar Hernández and Anthony Santander can get better clarity on where they might go,” Rosenthal said on “Fair Territory.” “Teoscar Hernández still looks like he’s going back to the Dodgers, but the Dodgers are hanging around for Juan Soto, seeing if maybe he falls to them. Not going to happen, but there’s no harm in them trying.”

Los Angeles falling behind in the Soto race probably boils down to financial impracticality. The 2024 World Series champions went on a historic spending spree last offseason and they recently committed a good chunk of change to Blake Snell. The Dodgers would need to take the deferred money route to sign Soto, and the 26-year-old reportedly is not interested in such a pact.

So, with LA seemingly out of the equation, Boston should feel better about its chances to land the four-time All-Star, even if only marginally.
