New American Heart Association Scientific Statement on Lipoprotein Apheresis

A new American Heart Association (AHA) scientific statement focuses on the evidence for and implementation of lipoprotein apheresis, an emerging treatment for some people with familial hypercholesterolemia. These patients have a substantially heightened risk for cardiovascular events and may not respond sufficiently to lifestyle modifications and cholesterol-lowering medications.
