Meet Sufiyan Muqeem, Pakistan spinner who took 5 wickets for JUST 3 runs against Zimbabwe in second T20I

0

New Delhi: Pakistan and Zimbabwe are currently battling it out in the second T20I of their three-match series at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

In a historic performance, Pakistan’s 25-year-old left-arm wrist-spinner delivered a sensational spell, claiming five wickets for just three runs in 2.4 overs. This remarkable feat now stands as the best bowling figures by a Pakistani bowler in T20Is, surpassing the previous records held by Imad Wasim and Umar Gul. His extraordinary effort played a pivotal role in bundling Zimbabwe out for a mere 57 runs in the match.

Notably, Zimbabwe won the toss and chose to bat first. They started their innings well, but things quickly unraveled as Abbas Afridi triggered a collapse, which was further fueled by the left-arm spinner’s impactful performance.

The Zimbabwean batters had no answer to Muqeem’s brilliance as he tore through their lineup. With the hosts crumbling to just 57 runs, Muqeem ended his spell with a remarkable five wickets for only three runs.

Muqeem’s remarkable five-wicket haul of just three runs has now set the record for the best bowling figures by a Pakistani bowler in T20Is, surpassing Umar Gul and Imad Wasim. Gul previously held the record with five wickets for six runs against New Zealand in the 2009 T20 World Cup.
