Tottenham vs Bournemouth: Head-to-head record in last ten meetings

0

Tottenham travel to Bournemouth in their next Premier League match. Let’s take a look at the last ten meetings between the two sides and who has come out on top.

Tottenham vs Bournemouth: Head-to-head record

Tottenham Hotspur will head to Bournemouth for their next match, playing the last game of the mid-week Premier League fixtures.

Spurs will take confidence that historically, they have fared well against the Cherries. Bournemouth under Andoni Iraola are a strong pressing team. They do not press as aggressively as Tottenham (nobody does) but have lept up Opta’s Expected Points table, largely thanks to Justin Kluivert’s hattrick of penalties against Wolves.

The last trip to Bournemouth was Ange Postecoglou’s third competitive fixture for Tottenham. After an initial draw with Brentford and a win against Manchester United, Spurs’ 2-0 win against Bournemouth was an exhibition of Postecoglou’s style. A first-half goal displayed James Maddison’s goal-scoring ability and Dejan Kulusevski’s second-half strike was a quintessential ‘Angeball’ cutback.

Tottenham Record:
Wins: 7
Draws: 1
Losses: 2
Goals for: 23
Goals against: 10

A fixture you cannot afford to leave early

Ange Postecoglou has frequently commented on Tottenham’s failure to put games to bed. This is one matchup where Spurs will be hoping to establish a lead which cannot be overcome.

During the last ten fixtures between Spurs and Bournemouth, there have been 9 goals scored after the 80th minute. This is almost a third of all the goals scored in those games.

Tottenham are dealing with multiple injuries going into the match. With Spurs’ bench lacking depth at the moment, they will hope that they do not end up in a position where they need to play all-out until the final whistle.

Tottenham should attack continuously

Tottenham may be hesitant to exhaust too much of the energy with so many fixtures on the horizon. However, if Dominic Solanke can return up front to help retain possession, Bournemouth may struggle to handle a Spurs side in full attacking flow.

Bournemouth have only managed to achieve over 50% possession in 4 of their 14 competitive fixtures this season. That being said, Bournemouth have not scored a single goal from a counter-attack. If Spurs can bypass Bournemouth’s press and keep up some continued attacks, it could be a fruitful evening for Tottenham.
