Fire damages homes
at bayfront complex
A two-alarm fire displaced five residents at a waterfront condominium complex in Mill Valley, according to the Southern Marin Fire Protection District.
The fire was reported at 2:55 p.m. Saturday at 2226 Shelter Bay Ave. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to one residence, but two neighboring dwellings were damaged by smoke and water, Battalion Chief Travis Fox said.
No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross provided temporary lodging for two of the displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Pilot unhurt after
crashing at airport
A pilot was uninjured Monday morning after crashing a plane at the Marin County Airport, according to the sheriff’s office.
The pilot, who was alone in the plane, took off from the airport at Gnoss Field and flew for about an hour, sheriff’s Sgt. Adam Schermerhorn said. The pilot lost control while landing and skidded off the runway.
The crash caused minor damage to the plane and prompted a brief closure to the runway, Schermerhorn said.

Ferrari goes into bay
in alleged DUI case
An intoxicated driver in a Ferrari went off a road in Strawberry and careened into Richardson Bay, police said.
The incident happened at about 3:30 p.m. Friday when the driver lost control on a curve along Seminary Drive, according to the California Highway Patrol. Officers released him to get medical care, said CHP Officer Darrel Horner. The agency plans to recommend that the Marin County District Attorney’s Office file DUI charges, Horner said.
A crew from Diego Truck Repair and Towing in Greenbrae hauled the Ferrari out of the muck.
The driver, whom police identified as Jeff Neugebauer, 61, of Mill Valley, declined to comment on Monday.

Toy drive organizers
seek gift donations
Familias Voluntarias de Canal is collecting donations for a holiday toy drive serving children up to 12 years old.
The organization is accepting items through Dec. 20. Unwrapped toys can be dropped off from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday at Youth in Arts at 917 C St., or from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays at Parent Services Project at 79 Belvedere St.
The group is also collecting unwrapped gifts, gift cards, cash donations and bicycles, which will be included in a raffle.
A Christmas event is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 21 at the Bahia Vista Elementary School cafeteria at 125 Bahia Way. Toy distribution is set for 1 to 4 p.m. that day.
