Fabergé to design first investable Christmas Egg for Konvi

0

Luxury jeweller brand Fabergé will be commissioned to create its first-ever Christmas Egg Objet by Konvi, a European luxury assets fractional investment platform.

Available to invest in today, the piece will be a custom-made egg objet and the “world’s first” Christmas-themed piece of its kind, nicknamed the ‘Christmas Egg’.

The Fabergé eggs were originally created for the Russian imperial family in the late 19th Century using a blend of precious metals and gemstones.

Konvi calculates that Fabergé egg pieces achieve a historic appreciation of 28% per annum, given figures from all public egg valuations and sales between 2000 and 2014.

Some eggs now fetch over $1m (£788,300), causing many to look at the creations as “assets for investment”.

As of today, investors can buy fractional shares in this exclusive Christmas piece through the Konvi platform from €250 (£207.03).

After a value appreciation period set by its investors, the egg will be sold at auction through Konvi’s partner, Henry’s Auktionhaus, to return profits to investors.

Fabergé makes only around 2,300 pieces annually, meaning that the supply of these assets is “highly limited”.

Konvi stated that the extreme scarcity of these “luxury creations” gives them “strong potential as investments, with unique one-of-a-kind pieces having even more room for value appreciation”.

The Fabergé Winter Egg from 1913 famously sold for nearly $10m (££7.88m) in 2002.

According to Konvi, the lofty cost of a Fabergé egg, with new pieces selling for over €60,000 (£54,848), means that these “high-return investment opportunities have historically been far out of reach for the vast majority of retail investors”.

However, Konvi’s fractional investing platform lowers the market entry cost, enabling almost anyone to invest in the piece.

Eran Peer, co-founder and CEO of Konvi, said: “Launching this exclusive Christmas Fabergé Egg investment opportunity for Konvi users is central to our goal of democratising luxury asset investing.

“By providing these investment opportunities, we aim to bring previously inaccessible luxury investment opportunities to a broader range of people. This offering means people can own these luxury jewellery pieces, traditionally only held by the wealthiest of individuals, and reap the investment rewards. We’re excited to be bringing such a high-profile asset to our platform and look forward to launching similar investment opportunities in the near future.”
