A GROWING number of people have been taking DNA tests to find out more about their families and background.

But for one woman the viral trend ended up with her world turning upside down, after she discovered that her boyfriend of six years was actually her biological brother.

They’d built their life together – but after taking a DNA test one couple’s life turned upside down[/caption]

The anonymous woman, 30, explained that she was adopted as a baby and her ”parents” didn’t reveal the truth until much later in her life when the then-teenager started high school.

”I didn’t feel betrayed or care much. I love my parents and my parents love me. Who cares if they aren’t my real parents,” she wrote on Reddit.

Her boyfriend, too, was adopted and when the pair first met it was one of the things they ”bonded over”.

Speaking about their relationship, which lasted for more than half a decade, the 30-year-old said they ”understood each other very fast”.

”We were attracted to each other quickly. I’ve never met someone and felt immediate attraction and familiarity,” she told readers in the post.

However, there was a reason the couple felt so comfortable with one another, she wrote in a shocking turn of events.

”Now I know that the comfort and familiarity is because he’s my brother.

”Not my half-brother. He is my full brother.

”We’ve done everything a couple that has been together for six years could. We’ve said we love each other, we’ve had sex, we’ve celebrated anniversaries, we’ve met each other’s families.

”I’m just glad we both agreed early on that we don’t want to have kids, so that has never happened,” said the woman who still found it difficult to refer to her boyfriend, 32, as her brother.

”I don’t want to deal with the health risks and have to raise a child them know that their parents are siblings.”

Their worlds came crashing down after the pair decided to take a DNA test to find out more about their ancestry and background.

After ordering two kits and sending them out, the couple waited a month for the results to come back.

”I was excited to see what we were but before I could even get to that I saw that we were siblings.
