But you can catch your seafood fix for less by trying these money-saving tricks this festive season.

Cuts of frozen fish are often much cheaper than fresh options and just as nutritious.
Stocking up on frozen mackerel, tuna or salmon will help you to plan ahead for meals without the high price tag.

TIN IT TO WIN IT: Tinned salmon and sardines are packed with nutrients at a fraction of the cost of fresh fish.
Use tinned salmon to create spreads, salmon fish cakes and burgers, pasta dishes or even as a salad topper.
Tinned sardines in oil or tomato sauce on toast is also great as a tasty brekkie option and just 50p per tin at Tesco.
Adding pickled red cabbage or avocado will give it upmarket cafe vibes.
PIE’S THE LIMIT: Make your seafood dishes stretch further by bulking them out with complementary ingredients.
A fish pie, for example, can go a lot further when you add double the amount of potatoes or vegetables.
