Bears execs set to speak about Matt Eberflus firing Monday
Bears president/CEO Kevin Warren and general manager Ryan Poles hold a news conference Monday morning, three days after they fired coach Matt Eberflus.
Friday marked the first time in franchise history that the Bears had fired a coach in the middle of the season. Warren and Poles chose not to have a press conference then. Instead, they'll meet the media at 11:45 a.m. Monday, followed by interim head coach Thomas Brown.
The Bears fired Eberflus on Friday two hours after he did his day-after-game press conference. Sources said Warren, Poles and chairman George McCaskey were meeting about his status at the time.
Brown has five games left this season to try to impress his bosses, though the Bears figure to speak to other candidates at the end of the year even Brown earns serious consideration. Brown, 38, called plays for three games after being promoted to replace Shane Waldron last month.
