Armed suspect arrested in South Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) - According to The Topeka Police Department (TPD), on Saturday, November 30, around 2:55 p.m., TPD responded to the area of the 1700 block of SE 29th Street regarding an armed subject threatening others.

When TPD officers arrived, information was developed that Jarius Lyles Jr, 18, had been armed with a firearm. Lyles Jr. was located at his home and had threatened some people also in the area.

As a result of the investigation, Lyles Jr. was arrested on the following charges and booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections:

  • Three counts of Aggravated Assault
  • Aggravated Criminal Threat
  • Aggravated Endangerment of a child
