Video: Spurs starlet George Abbott scores wondergoal from crazy distance
On-loan Spurs man George Abbott netted the first goal of his senior country in Notts County’s FA Cup defeat on Saturday, and the midfielder might never score a more special goal in his career.
George Abbott is getting valuable minutes at Notts County
Abbott is thought of very highly at Tottenham, having captained the club’s developmental squad to the Premier League 2 title last season.
The 19-year-old made his senior Spurs debut back in May 2023, coming on as a late substitute in the club’s 4–1 Premier League win over Leeds United.
Since making the move to Notts County in the summer, the teenager has been getting regular minutes in League Two, with the Magpies looking set for a promotion push this season.
George Abbott scores his first senior goal away from Spurs
Notts County travelled to Peterborough United for an FA Cup second-round clash on Saturday.
With the away side trailing 4-2 in injury time, the on-loan Tottenham man latched on to a wayward clearance from Peterborough goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic and sent an audacious lob from the right flank that curled its way into the back of the net.

Notts’ FA Cup journey is over
However, unfortunately, Abbott’s goal proved a mere consolation for Stuart Maynard’s side, who could not find a late equaliser.
That means that the Tottenham man’s FA Cup journey is over for this season, but there is no doubt that he will play an important role in the Magpies’ promotion push.
Notts County currently find themselves in fifth place in the League Two table, just two points behind an automatic promotion spot.
They now shift their focus back to the league as they travel to Walsall for an important game on Tuesday night.
