After the Buzzer – Vipers Shut Out by Kings Despite 38-Shot Effort

Powell River, BC — The Vernon Vipers peppered Powell River Kings goaltender Vincent Lamberti with 38 shots on Saturday night but were unable to break through, falling 2-0 in a tightly contested matchup.

Vernon came out firing, testing Lamberti 14 times in the first period alone. Despite consistent offensive pressure, the Vipers couldn’t find the back of the net, even as they ramped up the attack with nine shots in the second period and another 15 in the third.

The Vipers’ special teams were solid, successfully killing off Powell River’s lone power play opportunity. However, the team did not have any power play chances of their own in the game.

Marko Bilic delivered a strong performance between the pipes for Vernon, turning aside 24 of 26 shots to keep his team within striking distance.

With the loss, the Vipers wrapped up their three-game road trip with a 1-2 record. They’ll now return home to Kal Tire Place to begin a four-game homestand, starting with a highly anticipated matchup against the Brooks Bandits next Friday night.
