Sophia Loren’s Lookalike Granddaughter Lucia’s Vintage Look Paid Homage to Her Grandma
Remember how, earlier this month, Sophia Loren’s lookalike granddaughter Lucia-Sofia Ponti revealed she was going to make her public debut in a super-cool way? Well, the time is here, and she made her debut alongside Apple Martin at the Le Bal des Debutantes, also known as the Debutante Ball. And Ponti arrived in a gown that truly embodies her grandma’s iconic, vintage fashion.
In photos obtained by Hello! Magazine Canada, we can see all the celebrity kids and grandkids that arrived in ballgowns for the big night, including Ponti, Martin, Nicole Ari Parker’s daughter Sophie Tei Naaki Lee Kodjoe, La Princesse Eugenie de Bourbon, and more. However, we need to talk about Ponti’s gown.
In the photos obtained by the outlet, we see Ponti looking so stunning as she rocked a bandeau-cut gown by Giorgio Armani. It was striped, giving it a more modern look, but everything else screamed vintage, and screamed Loren.
The gown featured a nude lace overlay and ballgown. Along with the vintage-style vibe of the gown, Ponti also rocked a diamond and emerald choker.
Loren was often seen wowing in bold, statement-making chokers, and it seems Ponti is continuing that with her look. Along with that, Loren wasn’t afraid to rock a ballgown or two; and we’re obsessed with what Ponti did for the big night. (The ball is all about raising money for charities that help young women, so we love a fashionable cause that gives back.)
For those who don’t know, Loren has two sons: Carlo Ponti and Edoardo Ponti. Edoardo has two children named Lucia Sofia (born in May 12, 2006) and Leonardo Fortunato (born on Dec. 20, 2010).
Carlos also has two children, Vittorio Leone Ponti (born on April 2, 2007) and Beatrice Lara (born on March 15, 2012).
In a previous interview with Hello! Magazine, Ponti talked about the ball and how her grandma inspired her style, “My grandmother always believed in timeless elegance and the importance of wearing something that reflects your true self. Growing up, she taught me the value of simplicity, tailoring, and always adding a touch of uniqueness to your outfit.”
She added, “Her wardrobe was filled with pieces that told a story, and I’ve carried that mindset with me.”
