Jennifer Hudson’s Teen Son David Was Way More Involved With This Album Than You May Have Realized

It’s officially time to celebrate the holiday season, and now, we’re blasting Jennifer Hudson’s new, and first, Christmas album entitled The Gift of Love. And did you know her teen son was actually heavily involved with it?

It’s true, the daytime talk show host recently told People that her son, David Daniel Otunga Jr, is just as crazy about the holidays as her, and even helped her with this new album.

“[My son] helped name this holiday album, The Gift of Love,” she revealed. “He’s a holiday fanatic just like me. He’s been very present within this whole thing. We would sit by the fireplace, watch holiday movies together. He even went, ‘Mama, this song right here is my favorite song off of the Christmas album.’ Giving his two cents. He’s encouraging, he helped me learn different notes.”

Isn’t that so sweet?! We love that this holiday album was truly a family project, and it just adds to the holiday magic of it all.

“He’s always looking for gifts to give others,” Hudson added. “He’s a giver. And that’s how he was raised. That’s the tradition that’s within him. He is very much like me. He loves to see everyone come together and have dinner together, have a good time together and seeing the unity in it all.”

Released on Oct 18, 2024, The Gift of Love is Hudson’s first Christmas album and her first album in a decade.

For those who don’t know, Hudson has one son named David Daniel Otunga Jr., who was born on Aug 10, 2009.

She welcomed him with her ex-fiancee, former professional wrestler and lawyer, David Otunga Sr.
