Train blankets will be a lot cleaner and more hygienic now. Here's why

Northern Railways will now wash blankets every 15 days instead of a month. Blankets will be sterilized with hot naphthalene vapour and UV robotic sanitation will be used on some trains. Before 2010, blankets were washed every 2-3 months. Northern Railways distributes over 1 lakh blankets daily and ensures all linens are freshly washed.
