Colts Promote Pair Of Ex-Patriots Before Pivotal Matchup
The Colts made a pair of intriguing roster moves prior to their matchup with the New England Patriots on Sunday.
Indianapolis signed offensive lineman Atonio Mafi to the active roster from the practice squad, waived linebacker Liam Anderson and elevated offensive lineman Mark Glowinski and wide receiver Laquon Treadwell to the active roster from the practice squad.
Mafi and Treadwell, of course, used to play in New England.
Mafi was a fifth-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, starting in five games as a rookie for the Patriots. New England relied on him to make appearances in every game of his rookie season, though, and thought of him as a potential starter entering the offseason program before he was eventually beaten out.
Treadwell spent just a cup of coffee at One Patriot Place, sitting on the practice squad for about a month in 2022.
Mafi and Treadwell aren’t expected to provide much of a spark on Sunday, though it is interesting both of their promotions came against their former team.
