Gloucester City 4-1 Poole Town – Match Report
Poole Town were looking to get back to winning ways with a trip to high flyers Gloucester City at the Tiger Turf Stadium.
Poole came into the game off the back of a disappointing 2-1 loss to Hanwell Town at the BlackGold last Saturday.
Gloucester were on a tricky run themselves with no win in four. They were involved in a 4-4 thriller at Walton and Hersham last weekend.
Steve Tully made a few tweaks to his starting 11 with new signing Leo Taylor coming in for the suspended Oakley Hanger, Jamie Whisken and Rafa Ramos also getting a start ahead of Toby Holmes and the absent Tyler Forbes.
The game got underway with Gloucester controlling the game from the off. The Tigers took the lead on the 23rd minute after a defensive error left Stanley Anaebonam with a tap in, to put the home side a goal up.
From then on the game quieted down, despite Gloucester having the ball in the net but the linesman saved Poole by flagging for offside.
A minute before the interval a ball in from Dario De Luca from a corner landed at the feet of Josh Staunton who smashed the ball in off the bar to level the game.
However, the home side responded immediately after Cam Plain’s parry ended up at the feet of Crosbie who restored the Tigers lead bang on half time.
Gloucester weren’t done there and extended their lead through Ed Williams following a direct free kick.
Crosbie got his second and City’s fourth after he was quickest to react following a free kick which was parried.
Poole were unlucky not to find another goal after a number of chances from Ramos and Clarke just couldn’t find the net.
So a 4-1 defeat on the road at a well drilled Gloucester who sit second in the table. Poole drop to 12th still only four points off the playoffs.
The Dolphins are back at home next weekend with a contest against bottom of the table Frome Town.
