Linny hat-trick as Seagulls score six

0

CRAIG LINDFIELD completed his second hat-trick of the season as the Seagulls beat Gresford Athletic 6-0 to extend their unbeaten run in all games to 17.

That’s the best run by any Bay side in the last 20 years, beating the 16-game run in 2022-23 title winning season.

Linny took his goals tally this season to 16, while Gwion Dafydd, Jamie Cumming and substitute Dan Atkins were the other Bay scorers.

A dominant performance by the By saw them 2-0 up inside the opening eight minutes as Linny scored from Gwion Daffyd’s low cross after six minutes and then supplied the pass for Gwion to get the second two minutes later.

Jamie Cumming made it 3-0 on 32 minutes from a rebound off the keeper and Lewis Sirrell put another chance narrowly over the bar just before the interval.

Gresford had shots narrowly wide and over the bar, but never really threatened in the second half.

Their keeper Lewis Dutton made a fine save to deny Gwion Dafydd from Sam Hart’s great cross, and made another good save from Lloyd Marsh-Hughes as he connected with a cross from Craig Linfield.

The keeper had no chance, however, when Linny buried a shot into the top corner on 68 minutes to make it 4-0 from Sam Hart’s pass and seven minutes later Linny completed his hat-trick when Tommy Creamer headed a deep right wing cross back across goal.

Dan Atkins came off the bench to add goal number six in added time at the end of the game.
