Mum who lost baby to cancer says our Christmas Wrapping For Kids campaign ‘means the world’ as she calls for backing
SAFIYYA VORAJEE, who tragically lost her baby girl to cancer, is calling on Britain to get behind The Sun on Sunday’s Christmas Wrapping For Kids campaign, revealing it “means the world”.
Little Azaylia Cain died from acute myeloid leukaemia in April 2021 and her mum has “turned pain into purpose” by setting up The Azaylia Foundation, who we have partnered with for this year’s appeal.

Profits will go towards buying gifts for young cancer patients in hospitals this Christmas as well as funding for research.
Safiyya said: “I hope everyone will support The Azaylia Foundation by buying this beautiful wrapping paper.
“It means the world to me that people are coming together to support children fighting cancer.
“No other child deserves to go through that pain.
“At this time of year my heart aches but I turn that pain into purpose.
“Usually when Christmas comes around I feel heavy hearted, lonely and empty imagining what it might have looked like, so my joy is supporting other children having to spend Christmas Day in hospital.
“I’ve seen what that’s like – it’s horrific – but giving a voice to the voiceless and continuing Azaylia’s legacy makes it bittersweet for me.”
Speaking from The Works in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, Safiyya added: “When people show kindness and come together by supporting us, it swells my heart, fills every fibre in my body and makes me feel truly proud of my daughter.
“Azaylia was my inspiration, she drives me through every day.
“She showed us what true strength, bravery and courage means.
“She taught me not just how to be a mum, but how to show up when times are hard.
“Little Azaylia captured the hearts of the nation when she was diagnosed with a rare form of leukaemia in 2020, only weeks into her short life.”
