Australia delivered HUGE blow ahead of 2nd Test as star pacer gets ruled out due to injury
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood was on Saturday ruled out of the 2nd Test of the Border-Gavaskar series against India in Adelaide due to an injury. In place of him, seamers Sean Abbott and Brendan Doggett have been added to the squad.
Hazlewood was undoubtedly Australia’s best bowler in the first Test in Perth, taking 5 wickets and not giving away many runs. While the uncapped Abbott and Doggett were drafted in, Hazelwood’s absence is likely to open the door for Scott Boland to play in the day-night Test that starts on Friday.
Boland last featured for the Baggy Greens in the Test match against England at Headingley in 2023. So far the pacer has only played 10 Tests for Australia.
Another player who isn’t likely to feature in the 2nd Test for Australia is all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, who pulled up sore following the Perth Test defeat. Fellow all-rounder Beau Webster is expected to replace him and make his debut in the format with the Adelaide Test.
