Bell tower demolition begins at Albany church

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A crew has begun removing the bell tower on Elijah Missionary Baptist Church. The church was destroyed in a fire on November 14.

The fire was caused by a space heater on the second floor, according to the mayor's office.

The church on Second Avenue had been there since 1880. It began as the first German Catholic Church to hit the Albany Skyline.
