Oak Park police officer shot and critically wounded, suspect also shot
A police officer and a suspect were shot Friday morning in Oak Park.
Just after 9:35 a.m., the Oak Park Fire Department responded to a shooting in the 800 block of Lake Street and found the officer shot in the left side, Oak Park police said.
The officer was taken to the Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition, police said.
A short time earlier, the gunman was seen leaving a bank on Lake Street with a gun, which prompted the initial response, police said.
The alleged gunman was shot in the leg, officials said. He was taken to the same hospital where he was being treated.
It wasn’t immediately clear who shot the gunman and police did not say what condition they were in, authorities said.
