'Suicide Squad' Director David Ayer Addresses Rumors About the Studio Cut of the Movie
Director David Ayer opened up about a big rumor surrounding his movie Suicide Squad.
The 2016 DC movie starred the likes of Will Smith and Margot Robbie. However, it was not well received by critics and has a 26% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
If you were unaware, the movie went through edits at the urging of the studio. The final cut of Suicide Squad that premiered in theaters was not the movie David imagined.
Some fans believed that the movie was changed because David‘s version was testing badly with fans at advance viewings. However, the director said that was not the case.

“Nope. Not true at all,” David told a fan who asked about the edits on X (formerly Twitter). “I made a drama. Studio wanted a comedy. Madness ensued. My cut was never tested or screened for an audience.”
This is not the first time that David has put the studio on blast for the movie. Last year, he explained that it was also the movie that “broke” him.
