This Morning’s Alison Hammond in hysterics as Prue Leith fails in cooking demo and admits ‘this wasn’t the best idea!’
ALISON Hammond was left in hysterics as Prue Leith’s cooking segment spectacularly failed on today’s This Morning.
Prue‘s attempt to demonstrate a quick avocado hack on the ITV show didn’t quite go to plan, leaving hosts Alison, 49, and Dermot O’Leary, 51, in fits of laughter.

Placing the grate over the fruit on a chopping board, Prue started her demo but immediately spotted a flaw.
Adjusting her setup, she admitted, “Oh actually, I need to do it on a plate so there’s space underneath.”
A skeptical Dermot questioned the avocado’s ripeness, to which Prue replied: “It’s not quite ripe enough, but I think it’ll be… shove it down like that.”
Narrating her own mishap after being left with an almost-squashed avocado, she admitted: “Well, that’s not… it’s a bit of a mess.”
Alison, who works with Prue as host of the Channel 4 show, couldn’t contain her laughter, exclaiming, “It’s flat like a pancake. It’s like a green pancake!”
Prue confessed with a laugh, “It’s not exactly beautiful,” while Dermot quipped: “Smashed avocado with some eggs, we’re in!”
When Alison tried the technique herself, the outcome was even worse.
Prue couldn’t help but joke, “I’m not sure this was the best idea in the world.”
Viewers soon took to X, formerly Twitter, to share their thoughts, with one writing, “This item is disastrous,” and another adding, “Or… just use a knife like a normal person.”
A third pointed out Prue’s technique might not be the most time-effective, after all, saying: “Just extra washing up.”
It’s been a tumultuous week for This Morning, with editor Martin Frizell announcing his departure on Wednesday.
News of his departure comes just two months after former presenter Phillip Schofield described the mercurial journalist as a “s***” – dragging up two years of turbulent toxicity.
Although ITV will externally advertise the £155,000 a year role, current Associate Editor Vivek Sharma is heavily tipped to land the coveted gig.
Last night, a source said: “This really is the end of an era for daytime telly; huge changes are afoot.
“The show has never truly recovered from Holly and Phil’s departure, and this is a chance to move on from the old guard and bring in fresh faces to detoxify the brand once and for all.
“The hope is that a few tweaks here and there can make a huge difference – with presenters added to the roster, and a few exciting new features.
“Martin was mercurial and merciless when he was angry, and a few people were pretty scared of him.
“Martin was old school, but he was also hugely talented, hands-on, hard-working, and dedicated to the running of that ship.
“His strengths, however, were that he was a total maverick and absolutely fearless.
“Whilst officially ITV will open the job up to external candidates, the feeling is Vivek is a shoo-in – he’s brilliant, young, talented and just what the show needs to freshen-up and engage with a TikTok generation. He is bursting with ideas.
“But he knows not to reinvent the wheel, and alienate This Morning core audience of housewives and young mums – but he will do it his way.”
