Mishal Husain’s new job revealed as she quits BBC after 26 years on air

MISHAL Husain’s new job has been revealed after she announced her departure from the BBC.

After 26 years on the corporations airwaves, the star has made the decision to step away.

Mishal, 51, is best known for her role as one of the main presenters of the Today programme on BBC Radio 4.

The newsreader was also known for her role as a relief presenter on the flagship News At Ten bulletin.

In her time at the Beeb, she also hosted the News at Six, HARDtalk annd editions of BBC Breakfast.

She also was an occasional cover presenter for the Sunday politics programme, The Andrew Marr Show.

Now the presenter has joined Bloomberg TV’s division to front a global interview show.

Taking to social media, she announced: “My news .. heading to Bloomberg to host a multi-platform global interview show as part of the recently launched Weekend Edition.

“Much to look forward to in this new chapter of career and life :).”

The star paid tributes to her colleagues at the publicly funded broadcaster as she reflected on her long career.

“Thinking of others: BBC Westminster colleagues with whom I worked on the election debates, Radio 4 ceremonials and that extraordinary vantage point across from Westminster Abbey for the late Queen’s funeral and the King’s coronation: and BBC Events colleagues, most recently at the Lord Mayor’s Show,” Mishal wrote.

However she did confirm that she would still be part of the Today show team for a number of weeks before her official departure.

“I’ll be on air @BBCr4today for a few more weeks, and then the new world begins in 2025.

“Looking forward to getting to know my new colleagues, and to new adventures, but will always work with the same ideals, approach and heart.”

Thanking her fans and followers, she added: “To those who have written to me in the last few days, with so much generosity – thank you – it is much appreciated. Onwards.”

Before she joined the BBC in 1998, she worked as a producer and presenter at Bloomberg for two years.

This may be a full circle moment for the star as she returns to the network of her career beginnings after nearly 30 years.
