Albany Police recover handgun, fentanyl during arrest

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- Albany Police arrested a 24-year-old man on Tuesday for drug and weapon charges. Rahzare Williams is facing multiple charges after allegedly threatening to harm a woman with a handgun during an argument.

Police responded to a Walter Street home near North First Avenue around 9:35 a.m. for a person with a weapon. Before arriving at the scene, law enforcement was told Williams was fighting with the woman inside the home and implied he had a handgun, threatening to harm her.

Police said they saw Williams leave the home when they arrived and stopped him as part of the investigation. Albany Police Department's Children and Family Service detectives searched the house on a warrant, recovering the loaded handgun.

While being arrested, police said they found fentanyl in Williams' possession. He was arraigned in Albany City Criminal Court on Wednesday morning.

  • One count of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance
  • One count of fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
