PNW to see dry, cloudy conditions before Thanksgiving

0

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- On the biggest travel day of the year so far, the KOIN 6 Weather Team does not expect any significant travel problems from Seattle south to California along the Interstate 5 corridor, or from the coast to the Cascades as an area of high pressure is taking hold over the region.

This area of high pressure also increases the region's temperature inversion that is developing across the area. A temperature inversion is when fog and low clouds are trapped in the valleys under calm conditions. This will also limit daytime heating for the next several days.

Expect highs in the upper 40s after lows in the 30s in the valley today. The region should see a little more clearing later in the week which will allow for cooler nights.

If you are looking to escape the fog and low clouds in the valley, try heading down to the coast or up into the Cascades above the inversion. No new snow is expected in the mountains, and no significant melt-off either. So, this will be a great week to get in some skiing or decorate the house for the holidays.

Conditions will stay dry for at least the next six to seven days around the Pacific next week. Enjoy it and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
