Police ID victim of fatal Weinland Park shooting

COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- Columbus police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting Monday night near Weinland Park.

Police said Anthony Wise, 20, was shot Monday night at approximately 8:29 p.m. on the 1200 block of North 4th Street. He was taken to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 9:10 p.m.

According to police, the shooting appears to be the result of an ongoing conflict between Wise and a group of others who were seen with Wise before the shooting.

The shooting happened when the group was gathered in the Weinland Park shelter house when a male suspect produced the gun and started firing, police said.
