Bruins Forward Admits To Feeling ‘Snakebitten’ Amid Struggles

Boston Bruins forward Morgan Geekie enjoyed a career year last season when he scored 19 goals.

Geekie has not found the back of the net with the same type of success this season.

Geekie has just one goal through 18 games and he, like many of his teammates struggling to consistently score, can feel the mounting tension to supply offense for the Bruins.

“Pucks aren’t going in. Feels like I’m snakebitten. I feel like everyone could say the same thing,” Geekie told Adam Pellerin on the latest episode of NESN’s “The Hockey Hub” podcast.

Geekie is trying to get going on the second line alongside Pavel Zacha and David Pastrnak, who interim head coach Joe Sacco admitted was “pressing” following Boston’s win Saturday over the Detroit Red Wings.

The offensive opportunities feel there as of late for the Bruins — Boston’s loss Tuesday to the Canucks was evidence of that as the Bruins outshot Vancouver, 32-14 — but they aren’t seeing the results. The Bruins have scored just three goals in three games since Sacco took over, but Geekie remains optimistic.

“But you see the chances, they’re coming,” Geekie said. “And like I said earlier, they’re going to come in waves. Somebody is going to break the ice for us and things are going to start going in. It’s just about, at least for us, keeping on the gas and being able to make those plays even though you might not finish them — at least you’re getting chances. I was always taught getting chances and not scoring on them is not a problem, it’s when you stop getting those chances and stop creating opportunities is when (you) should make a change or something like that.”
