Former Razorback Men’s Tennis Head Coach David Kossover Passes Away at 81

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Former Arkansas Razorback men’s tennis head coach David Kossover, one of the most successful coaches in program history, has passed away at the age of 81.

A native of England, Arkansas, Kossover was named the Arkansas men’s tennis head coach in 1968 and remained the leader of the Razorbacks until the end of the 1971 season. Kossover became the first coach in program history to have four consecutive double-digit win seasons, achieving a 65-32 record during his tenure. At the time of his departure, Kossover was the winningest coach at Arkansas and currently sits fourth all-time in program history.

Kossover became the head tennis pro at multiple racquet clubs in Kansas after his time as head coach before returning to Arkansas as the head tennis pro at Fayetteville Athletic Club and Summerhill Racquet Club until his retirement.

Kossover was inducted into the Arkansas Tennis Hall of Fame in 2013 and enjoyed all Razorback sports, fishing and teaching both adult and youth tennis, coaching several women’s tennis teams to state and regional victories.
