#19/21 Arkansas Cruises Past UMES

FAYETTEVILLE – #19/21 Arkansas used a 28-0 run in the first half and never looked back in a 109-35 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore Monday night at Bud Walton Arena.

The 74-point win tied for the third-largest margin of victory in school history and it was the 146th time Arkansas reached the century mark all-time. The 35 points by UMES ties three others for the third-lowest by a Razorback opponent. (Vanderbilt scored 33 on Jan. 12, 2013, and SMU scored 33 on Feb. 24, 1981.) The last time Arkansas held an opponent to as few as 35 points was Nov. 30, 200,5 by Southern Miss.

It was the 46th time a Calipari-coached college team scored at least 100 points and the 35 points surrendered tie for the second-lowest by an opponent facing a Calipari-coaches college team.

Seven Razorbacks scored in double figures with freshman Karter Knox leading the way with 21 points while Billy Richmond III added 14 points and nine rebounds.

Johnell Davis got on track, making 4-of-7 from 3-point range with four assists and five rebounds, and scored 16 points. Boogie Fland also pumped in 16 points with six assists and five rebounds. Adou Thiero stuffed the stat sheet once again with 11 points, five assists and four steals.

Up next, Arkansas travels to Kansas City’s T-Mobile Center to face Illinois on Thanksgiving Day. Tipoff is set for 3 pm (CT) and the game will be televised on CBS. It will mark the first time CBS has ever broadcast a college basketball game on Thanksgiving.
