A CRICKET wunderkind has made history as he has been sold in a huge IPL auction deal – at just 13 years old.

Indian teenager Vaibhav Suryavanshi was bought by the Rajasthan Royals for £104,000 (11 million rupees).

Suryavanshi rose to prominence after smashing a 58-ball centre for the India Under-19s against Australia’s U19s in an unofficial Test match.

He also made his T20 debut for Bihar in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy against Rajasthan.

With the bat in hand, he managed 13 runs off just six balls.

Head coach Rahul Dravid believes that the IPL can help develop the skills of the rising star.

He told the IPL: “I think he’s (Suryavanshi) got some really good skills, so we thought it might be a good environment for him to grow in.

“Vaibhav just came to our trials and we were really happy with what he saw.”

The IPL auction was less successful for England legend James ‘Jimmy’ Anderson.

The bowler made himself available for around £10,000 more than Suryavanshi.

However, the 42-year-old went unsigned and will not feature in the tournament.

Anderson has not played a T20 match in over a decade and has been coaching with England since retiring from the national side.

Meanwhile, fellow England stars Will Jacks and Sam Curran were signed up.

White-ball batter Jacks was bought by the Mumbai Indians for £500,000.

Curran returned to the Chennai Super Kings in a deal worth £230,000.
