Alfie Devine continues to get important minutes under his belt

It came as a surprise to many when Spurs decided to send Alfie Devine on loan to Belgian side Westerlo in the summer rather than to a Championship side.

However, the decision has proven the right one, with the 20-year-old getting regular minutes under his belt in the Jupiler Pro League so far.

The Spurs academy graduate had delivered some impressive performances for Westerlo but was goalless in his first eight league games, but he rectified that in his latest outing.

Alfie Devine nets brace away from Tottenham

Devine scored two second-half goals for his club, who emerged comfortable 4-0 winners over Kortrijk on Sunday.

He opened the scoring in the 49th minute, producing an exquisite first touch to control a cross inside the box, before unleashing a left-foot strike that thundered into the roof of the net.

Devine then doubled Westerlo’s lead on 74 minutes, being the first to react after the goalkeeper parried a shot to the edge of the six-yard box.

Another Spurs youngster also impresses

Fellow Spurs loanee Luka Vuskovic also had another fine outing, helping Westerlo keep yet another clean sheet. The 17-year-old has been a mainstay of the Belgian side’s backline this season and has shown maturity beyond his years.

There is no doubt that Tottenham will be keeping an eye on the Croat’s performances, with some reports suggesting that he can be a first-team option for the North London club as early as next season (GiveMeSport).
