NFL Announces Key Update On Patriots Captain Jabrill Peppers
Jabrill Peppers is eligible to return to the New England Patriots.
The NFL on Monday afternoon announced Peppers has been removed from the Commissioner Exempt List. Peppers was added to the Commissioner Exempt List on Oct. 9, two days after he faced multiple charges in Quincy District Court.
The veteran safety was away from the team the last seven weeks. He can now participate in all team activities, including playing in games.
Peppers was added to the list after he was arrested and charged with assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, strangulation and possession of cocaine.
Peppers’ attorney Marc Brofsky has stressed Peppers’ legal team has video evidence that contradicts the alleged victim’s story. While representing Peppers in court on Friday, Brofsky said the woman accusing Peppers of assault demanded $10.5 million.
Peppers’ trial date is set for Jan. 22.
Peppers was named a Patriots captain before the season started. The organization released a statement following Peppers’ arrest but has not commented since.
