Ring Girl From Mike Tyson-Jake Paul Fight Hits Viral Milestone

0

University of Alabama student Sydney Thomas, 20, became a breakout star virtually overnight after appearing as a ring girl during the Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul fight on Nov. 15. And just over a week later, Thomas, who turns 21 on Tuesday, hit a milestone one million followers on TikTok.

Thomas only recently joined Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and the Tyson-Paul fight was her second time in the ring. Taking to the platform early Monday, she thanked her new fans for helping her become a viral sensation.

"First of all, I want to say thank you guys for all of the attention and all of the follows and all of the positive comments and everything," she said in the video. "Almost at a million followers, which is so crazy. I'm just a couple thousand away. I could not be more thankful and more blessed, so thank you guys, genuinely."

Not long after, Thomas posted to her Instagram Story to update that she had crossed the one million follower mark. "We just hit 1,000,000 followers on TikTok!!" the blonde wrote. "I cannot express enough how grateful I am for each and every single one of you. I love you guys, thank you."

In her video, Thomas also gave "a little rundown" about herself for fans who had seen her on TV but don't know who she actually is. Having grown up in St. Louis, MO, she said that she went to Alabama for college, where she's studying management and entrepreneurship. Thomas also said that she takes all of her classes online so she's able to travel and have more flexibility in her schedule.

She's also took a moment to dismiss the biggest misconception about herself since having gone viral. "Contrary to popular opinion or popular belief, I’m actually smart," Thomas explained. "People kind of get the image—pretty blonde, doesn’t have a brain—but I got a 33 on my ACT in high school and I’m finishing college a year early, so take it as you want."

"I’m very athletic. I love to work out, I love gym, I love health, I love wellness, I love fitness, I love anything that has to do with improving yourself physically, mentally and emotionally, I’m all in for," she continued. "I’m very driven with self-improvement and just becoming the best version of yourself."

But despite getting ready to graduate soon and finding herself a viral celebrity, Thomas admitted that she has "no idea" what she wants to do when she's older.

“My life changes so quickly. For instance, just the past two weeks so much in my life has just been totally flipped upside down," she said. "My path is just so different and so unique I just take it day by day. I don’t stress too much about the future."

Well, suffice to say, between her studies, social media, and burgeoning modeling career, it seems like she has plenty of time to figure it out.
