Tottenham goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario undergoes surgery after breaking ankle following 4-0 hammering of Man City
TOTTENHAM’S hero keeper Guglielmo Vicario has had surgery after fracturing his ankle at Manchester City.
Vicario’s smart saves thwarted Erling Haaland in particular as Spurs won 4-0.
But Tottenham confirmed on Monday night the Italian has since needed an operation – which is likely to mean a long lay-off.
He was given on-pitch treatment at the Etihad and was seen limping away from the stadium afterwards.
Now Spurs have said in a statement: “We can confirm that Guglielmo Vicario has today undergone surgery for a fracture of his right ankle.
Guglielmo will be assessed by our medical staff to determine when he can return to training. We’re all behind you, Vic.”

Vicario played a key role in securing that with top saves made to deny Erling Haaland on more than one occasion. The Italy international also faced nine corners but at no point appeared under any threat despite the claims he struggles to command his box on set-pieces.
