New Delhi: India’s captain, Rohit Sharma, has begun preparing for the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy with the pink ball. He was seen practicing in the nets at Optus Stadium in Perth, after missing the series opener to be with his family for the birth of his second child. The star batter arrived in Australia on Sunday, November 24, and was seen in the pavilion with head coach Gautam Gambhir during the first session on Day 4, Monday, November 25.
As Rohit was absent during the lead-up to the series, he missed the match simulations and preparations the team did to adapt to the conditions. While he practiced in Mumbai, he will need time on Australian pitches before making his Test debut.

There is a significant 10-day gap between the first and second Tests. This break includes a two-day pink-ball match against the Prime Minister’s XI, giving the visitors a chance to adjust to the day-night Test format, with their last such match taking place in 2022.
Rohit Sharma’s batting stats against Pink ball in test
Rohit Sharma has scored 173 runs in five innings with the pink ball in Test cricket. India’s only pink-ball Test away from home remains the controversial first Test in Adelaide during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a match Rohit missed due to injury. However, he boasts a solid record against the pink ball, highlighting his adaptability in day-night conditions.
