The Congress party won all three assembly seats in the recent Karnataka bypolls. The BJP-JDS alliance failed to secure any seats. Sons of former chief ministers HD Kumaraswamy and Basavaraj Bommai lost their respective elections. The Congress victory is seen as a boost for Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Dy CM Shivakumar.
