Gujarat bypoll: BJP wrests Vav assembly seat from Congress in close contest

BJP candidate Swarupji Thakor secured victory in the Vav assembly constituency bypoll, defeating Congress rival Gulabsinh Rajput by a margin of 2,442 votes. This win increases the BJP's tally to 162 seats in the 182-member Gujarat assembly. The by-election was necessitated after Congress MLA Geniben Thakor's resignation following her victory in the Banaskantha Lok Sabha constituency.
