Relievers Jordan Romano, Kyle Finnegan Headline Non-Tendered Players

0

Friday’s non-tender deadline has seen a new crop of talent around the league hit the free agent market.

Listed below are some of the higher-profile players who were let go along with their arbitration estimates from MLB Trade Rumors.

Brian Bradshaw Sevald-USA TODAY Sports

Jordan Romano, RHP ($7.75MM)

Right-handed reliever Jordan Romano was non-tendered by the Toronto Blue Jays after pitching in just 15 games this season due to a shoulder injury that required surgery in July. The two-time All-Star closer put up a 6.59 ERA over that stretch, though he’s likely to generate plenty of interest around the league given his track record as a premier late-inning option when healthy.

Gavin Sheets, OF/1B ($2.6MM)

Gavin Sheets hit .233/.303/.357 for the Chicago White Sox with 10 home runs, 45 RBIs and an 88 wRC+ in 2024 over 139 games and 501 plate appearances.

A second-round pick by Chicago in 2017, Sheets had spent his entire professional career with the White Sox up to this point. The 28-year-old has mashed 46 homers across parts of four seasons and 435 contests in the majors to go with a strikeout rate of 20.8% and OPS of .680.

Austin Hays, OF ($6.4MM)

The Philadelphia Phillies acquired Austin Hays from the Baltimore Orioles at this year’s trade deadline in exchange for right-handed reliever Seranthony Domínguez and outfielder Cristian Pache. He played in just 22 games for them, however, logging 80 plate appearances while slashing .256/.275/.397.

Including his 63 contests with Baltimore, Hays closed out the season with a .699 OPS, 98 wRC+ and five home runs. He was a solid regular for the Orioles over his prior three campaigns, batting .261/.313/.439 with 54 homers and 198 RBIs in 420 games while earning an All-Star nod in 2023.

Kyle Finnegan, RHP ($8.6MM)

Kyle Finnegan recorded 38 saves and was an All-Star for the Washington Nationals this year, but his exorbitant price tag for 2025 coupled with his spotty peripherals were enough for the team to cut ties with him. Much like Romano, Finnegan figures to garner no shortage of suitors as a free agent.

Here are the other players who have been non-tendered thus far:
