Grimes Says Elon Musk Is ‘Unrecognizable’ Now
Grimes shared on X that Elon Musk, her ex-boyfriend and father of her three children, became “unrecognizable” to her amid their custody battle. In the lengthy post, Grimes gave a glimpse into what her and Musk’s relationship has become over the course of their yearlong legal dispute, which reportedly wrapped up earlier in 2024.
“Spent a year locked in battle in a state with terrible mothers rights having my instagram posts and modeling used as reasons I shouldn’t have my kids and fighting and detaching from the love of my life as he becomes unrecognizable to me, with a fraction of his resources (or iq/ strategy experience), all the while I didn’t see one of my babies for 5 months,” Grimes wrote as part of an update on her upcoming music.
Grimes and Musk were in an on-again, off-again relationship from 2018 to 2022. In 2023, they both sued each other — he filed in Texas, her in California — as part of a custody dispute. Insider reported this week that a Texas court had issued a final order in the suit in August. The case has been sealed to the public, but in a now-deleted X post, Grimes implied that she gets the kids every other week. “It’s my week without my kids so if u wanna get responses from me it’s now or every second week after this,” she told her followers.
Meanwhile, Musk has recently been spending most of his time with Donald Trump, and often, he’s brought the kids (or at least one of them) along. His and Grimes’s older son, X Æ A-12, has been photographed with his father at Mar-a-Lago several times, including on election night.
Despite all that she’s gone through — she also wrote that she was “going bankrupt” fighting for her children — Grimes maintained a positive outlook in her X post. “And all that said I’m grateful for every bullet I caught. Cuz I feel on top of the world right now. And everything that used to give me anxiety feels like child’s play after all this,” she shared. “Ego death, ego birth - it’s everything an artist could dream of.”
