Have you ever seen a shopping mall in an Indian village? When most people think of a village, they imagine huts, fields, grass, livestock, and state-run buildings or small shops. It’s rare to come across a shopping mall in a village. But yes, it’s true -this Indian state has a shopping mall in a village.

People flocked to this village to buy clothes and other essential products. All the credit goes to the government officials of Udaipur district, who have yet to categorize the place under the city region. The location of the mall still falls under rural areas, according to government records.

Udaipur has two malls-Celebration Mall and Urban Square. According to records, the land falls under the Bhuwana gram panchayat. In addition, the Third Space Cultural and Learning Center is also located in this area. While modern cities typically have shopping malls, these malls in Udaipur fall under rural areas.

The lackadaisical approach of the district administration is evident in this case. The matter has been pending for correction since 2012, yet the situation remains unchanged. 

The gram panchayat has not only made the request to the district administration, but ruling party MLAs have also urged the officials to address the issue. Now, it remains to be seen how long it will remain classified as a rural area.
